Our Feelings vs. Gods Will

Many times I find my self confused about a situation or feeling a certain way about the events and people in my life. I have learned that it is not always right to trust our feelings. As hard as this may sound, our own feelings do lead us astray from Gods truth. Our feelings can be totally wrong based on our mood, how the day has gone, God knows our path and can tell us if we ask so we need double check with Him before we trust our feelings.

For me, it seems to work best to listen to my feelings, but wait to act. I sleep on them, cross reference them with prayer and others advice. I know this is the best I can do in an imperfect world. I don't always take this long for every decision. By continually keeping up with prayer devotions and studying scripture, it helps to make good decisions, quickly and confidently. If a group of friends is going out and I know they will be making choices that I would not make, I decline to go. Another example is people who are fun to hang around with sometimes that make us FEEL good or happy, but who are also bad influences at other times. By continually thinking about my faith, I have been able to recognize when a good time stops being a good influence.
